Job summary

American Family Insurance in Madison, WI seeks an experienced attorney to manage outside counsel for complex litigation involving the company and its insureds. The role requires strong knowledge of tort, contract and insurance law, and the rules of professional responsibility.

You will perform basic coverage reviews, draft Reservation of Rights letters, and provide legal advice to business partners. Travel up to 50% and relocation support are available. Report to Senior Manager, Legal.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service.
• Demonstrated experience preparing civil pleadings, motions and discovery and deposing witnesses.
• Demonstrated litigation experience.
• Solid knowledge and understanding of rules of Professional Responsibility for the jurisdiction in which they practice.
• Solid knowledge and understanding of tort, contract, and insurance law.

Responsibilities

• Manage caseload to obtain successful outcomes through outside counsel management.
• Reserving practices and risk management; timely reporting to management.
• Develop defense strategy and supervise lifecycle of files.
• Ensure compliance with litigation best practices and trial preparations.
• Coordinate with Coverage partners on early reserve recognition and coverage issues.
