Job summary

American Family Insurance seeks a licensed attorney to manage outside counsel in complex litigation affecting the corporation and insureds, reporting to the Senior Manager, Legal. The role includes initial coverage review and drafting Reservation of Rights letters as needed, with responsibilities across strategy, reserving, and risk management.

Travel up to 50% and relocation support for eligible candidates are noted. A Juris Doctor and bar admission within the related state are required.

Qualifications

• Experience providing client‑driven legal solutions.
• Experience drafting civil pleadings, motions, discovery, and taking depositions.
• Solid knowledge of professional responsibility rules.
• Bar admission in the applicable state or eligibility within required timeframe.
• Juris Doctor degree required.

Responsibilities

• Manage caseload to obtain successful outcomes.
• Proactively manage outside counsel and hold them accountable.
• Develop and implement defense strategy for each file lifecycle.
• Perform early coverage analysis and draft Reservation of Rights letters.
• Report progress to management and senior leadership; coordinate with Coverage partners.
