Job summary

American Family Insurance is seeking an experienced legal professional to manage outside counsel handling complex litigation involving the company and insureds. You will provide strategic direction, ensure adherence to professional responsibilities, and coordinate with Coverage partners as needed.

Responsibilities include initial file analysis, strategy development, reserving practices, and regular updates to senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Requires Juris Doctor and bar admission within a reasonable time after hire.
• Strong understanding of professional responsibility rules in relevant jurisdiction.
• Experience drafting civil pleadings, motions and discovery; taking and deposing witnesses.
• Experience with external counsel management and handling life-cycle of complex litigation.

Responsibilities

• Proactively managing Outside Counsel.
• Holding outside counsel accountable for meeting company requirements.
• Implementing strategy to drive files toward successful resolution.
• Developing defense strategy from initial analysis through litigation lifecycle.
