Job summary

U.S. Electrical Testing is seeking a field-based electrical technician to inspect, test, troubleshoot, and repair low to medium voltage equipment at the Blue Plains facility in Washington, DC, with some local travel.

You will work in both shop and field environments, applying safety and testing protocols to ensure system reliability. Responsibilities include substation testing, preventive and corrective maintenance, and using test equipment and CMMS software.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 7+ years' progressive electrical experience or an associate's degree with 5+ years' related experience.
• Must obtain NETA/AVO/NICET or equivalent substation cert within 12 months.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Knowledge of NFPA, NEC, OSHA guidelines and electrical safety principles.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical testing and maintenance on 69 kV class substations and related equipment.
• Inspect and troubleshoot breakers, transformers, relays, and switchgear.
• Utilize MAXIMO CMMS for work orders and documentation.
• Follow LOTO, arc flash, and confined space protocols.
• Coordinate with Operations and trades for safe, compliant maintenance.
