Job summary

Electric Power Systems is seeking a Field Technician II to perform testing, inspection, and maintenance of substation electrical equipment with growing independence and a strong emphasis on safety and quality.

The role requires dealing with high, medium, and low voltage equipment, traveling as needed, and collaborating with engineers and senior technicians to ensure equipment readiness for service.

Qualifications

  • Pass pre-employment drug screen.
  • Background check required.
  • Overtime and out-of-town travel may be required.
  • Valid driver''s license with clean record.
  • Bachelor''s or Associate degree in Electrical/Electronic technology or military experience.
  • 2–4 years of relevant industry experience.
  • NETA II Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to safety policies and PPE requirements in substation environments.
  • Participate in safety trainings, meetings, and job briefings; identify hazards and mitigate risks.
  • Support safety culture through hazard reporting and safe work practices.
  • Perform testing of high, medium, and low voltage equipment with limited supervision.
  • Inspect and maintain breakers (SF6, vacuum, LV), transformers (GSU and pad-mounted), instrument transformers, grounding systems, battery systems, and switchgear.
  • Troubleshoot issues using schematics, wiring diagrams, and manuals; escalate as needed.
  • Perform routine and corrective maintenance on electrical components.
  • Execute functional checks and assist commissioning activities to verify readiness for service.
  • Document testing, maintenance, and repair work according to project requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineers and senior technicians to complete field activities safely.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas to ensure readiness and compliance.
