Job summary

U.S. Electrical Testing, LLC is seeking an experienced electrical technician to inspect, test, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair low to medium voltage equipment in field and shop settings.

The role focuses on HV testing, substation equipment, and adherence to NFPA/NEC guidelines while ensuring a safe work environment. The position is primarily based at the Blue Plains facility in Washington, DC, with some local travel.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; 2+ years experience.
  • NETA, AVO Training Institute, NICET or equivalent certification for substation testing/maintenance.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Knowledge of electrical/electronic principles for multi‑component assemblies.
  • Ability to use test equipment to diagnose and fix problems.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings/schematics and NEC/NFPA guidelines.
  • Experience with PPE and safety regulations.
  • Proficiency with standard office software and documents.

Responsibilities

  • Perform substation inspections and preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and test electrical equipment and switchgear according to procedures.
  • Operate distribution systems up to 69 kV; capture infrared imaging data.
  • Maintain tools and equipment; document work in MAXIMO CMMS.
  • Install/control complex electrical/electronic systems; follow Lock‑Out/Tag‑Out and Arc Flash protocols.
  • Follow safety policies and OSHA/NFPA/NEC guidelines.
