Job summary

Leidos Engineering is seeking a Substation Senior Structural Engineer to lead design reviews of civil/structural components for substation projects, and mentor junior staff. The role emphasizes seismic design, foundations, and interaction with clients and project teams.

The position involves remote work with occasional site visits and travel, requiring a strong background in steel/concrete structures and utility industry experience.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil-Structural Engineering with 5+ years or MS with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• PE license preferred for CA/WA/OR or ability to obtain within 3–12 months.
• Experience with MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint and MATHCAD is required.
• Experience with RISA 3D or STAAD.Pro and SAG10, FAD or LPile is required.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and MicroStation is required.
• Strong analytical and technical writing skills.
• Team player with client and staff communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead design reviews and develop junior staff on civil/structural tasks.
• Perform design work for substation structures, foundations, and related components.
• Ensure designs meet industry codes, seismic loading, and project scope.
• Support bid/construction package development and client site visits.
