Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Substation Senior Structural Engineer with 5+ years in the utility sector to lead design reviews, supervise staff, and progress bid/construction packages for substation projects.

You will perform design and review of steel and concrete structures, foundations, geotechnical elements, and seismic-resistant details, with occasional client site visits and travel to meetings and industry events.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Civil-Structural Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience, or MS with 3+ years.
• PE license preferred in CA/WA/OR or ability to obtain within 3–12 months; SE licensure preferred.
• Proficiency with STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, RISA 3D, FAD, SAG10, LPile; AutoCAD and MicroStation required.
• Strong analytical and technical writing skills; ability to lead and mentor junior staff.
• Site-visits to client substations and travel to client meetings may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects as a senior engineer; perform design reviews and develop junior staff.
• Perform design reviews of civil/structural components for bid/construction packages.
• Ensure compliance with industry codes and seismic loading requirements for structures and foundations.
• Travel to client sites for site visits and industry events as needed.
