Job summary
Leidos is seeking a Substation Senior Structural Engineer with 5+ years of utility experience to lead design reviews and mentor junior staff, focusing on steel and concrete structures, foundations, and seismic design. The role involves performing design reviews, coordinating with engineers and drafters, and site visits to client substations with occasional travel for meetings and industry events.
BS in Civil/Structural Eng; PE/SE licenses preferred; proficiency in MATHCAD and structural software
Qualifications
- BS in Civil-Structural Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience, or MS with 3+ years of relevant experience
- PE License preferred in CA, WA, OR or ability to obtain within 3–12 months
- SE licensure is preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint & MATHCAD software, required
- Experience with STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, RISA 3D, FAD, SAG10, and LPile software, required
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and MicroStation required
- Strong analytical and technical writing skills
- Team player with ability to communicate with clients and staff
Responsibilities
- Lead projects and develop junior staff
- Perform design reviews of civil/structural components
- Ensure design to industry codes and standards under seismic loading
- Support bid/construction package development for substation projects
- Coordinate with engineers, designers, and drafters on design deliverables
- Conduct site visits to client substations and travel for meetings as needed
