Job summary

Exelon Corporation in Maryland seeks a Sr level engineer to lead protection and control efforts for substation rebuilds, asset replacements, and innovations such as Digital Smart Substations. You will guide studies, design, and commissioning to support grid reliability and capacity expansion.

The role requires extensive engineering experience, collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams, mentoring others, and readiness for storm coverage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or PE license.
• Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical systems.
• 7+ years of professional engineering experience or 6+ with Masters or PE.
• Experience with transmission and substation projects preferred.
• Experience in protection systems and relay settings.

Responsibilities

• Leads and performs assignments in specialized areas requiring extensive engineering expertise. (25%)
• Leads and performs engineering tasks and projects with significant financial and operational impact. (30%)
• Evaluates, develops, implements and leads projects with significant impact; plans commissioning. (10%)
• Participates in department planning; attends meetings and provides budget recommendations.
• May lead multi‑discipline teams or oversee contractors.
• Serves as an expert in a specialized area.
• Acts as an expert witness or provides expert opinions as required.
• Provides recommendations to management and implements action plans to improve performance.
• Provides detailed technical training and mentorship to others.
• Participates in technical and industry societies to enhance knowledge.
