Job summary

Baltimore Gas and Electric in Baltimore, MD seeks a Sr Engineer for Protection & Controls Engineering to lead and support protection and control engineering for substation rebuilds and asset replacements, including Digital Smart Substations. Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Licensed Professional Engineer.
• Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical systems.
• 7+ years of professional engineering experience or 6+ with Masters or PE.
• Experience with transmission and substation projects (air-insulated & gas-insulated).
• Experience in transmission line, transformer, bus, feeder, and capacitor protection systems and settings.
• Experience in substation RTU, annunciator, metering, capacitor control, and LTC control systems.

Responsibilities

• Leads and performs assignments in specialized areas requiring extensive engineering expertise.
• Leads projects with significant financial and operational impact; develops commissioning plans.
• Develops documents and plans; writes and performs tasks for deliverables and projects.
• Participates in department planning; monitors performance and budgets.
• May lead multi-discipline teams and oversee contractors.
• Acts as an expert in the specialized area and provides expert opinions as required.
• Provides recommendations to management and implements action plans to improve performance and cost effectiveness.
• Trains and mentors others; provides technical training and peer reviews.
• Participates in technical societies to stay updated on new technologies.
• Supports standardization and adoption of new engineering techniques and tools.
• Note: PE/license may reduce required experience as specified.
