Job summary

Exelon is seeking a Sr. Protection and Control Engineer to lead and support engineering efforts for substation rebuilds and asset replacements, with a focus on Digital Smart Substations.

The role requires handling complex initiatives impacting grid reliability, capacity expansion, and system performance. The candidate should have BS in Engineering or PE, 7+ years of experience (or 6+ with a MS/PE), and strong knowledge of protection systems, substations, and related automation hardware and

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Licensed Professional Engineer.
• Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems.
• 7+ years of professional engineering experience or 6+ with Masters or PE.
• Preferred: Experience with transmission and substation projects, including air-insulated and gas-insulated substations.
• Preferred: Experience in transmission line, transformer, bus, feeder, and capacitor protection systems and settings.
• Preferred: Experience in RTU, annunciator, metering, capacitor control, and LTC control systems and settings.

Responsibilities

• Leads and performs assignments in specialized areas requiring extensive engineering expertise.
• Leads and performs tasks on complex projects with significant financial and operational impact.
• Develops commissioning plans and documents; oversees design and performance assessments.
• Provides technical training, mentorship, and guidance to others.
• Acts as an expert witness or provides expert opinions as required.
