Job summary

E2 Consulting Engineers, LP is seeking a senior Substation P&C Design Lead in Southern California. You will guide a design team through concept to detailed engineering for critical utility projects and coordinate with clients and project managers to deliver accurate, code-compliant drawings and schematics.

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years in substation design, strong leadership, and proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation or Bluebeam, along with solid communication and QA/QC capabilities.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• 10+ years in substation design or similar with utilities/consulting.
• Experience managing multiple projects in fast-paced environments.
• Experience QA/QC reviews of substation drawings.
• Strong knowledge of substation systems up to 500 kV, protection and control.
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, MicroStation or similar tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead P&C design team, prepare field notes, drawings, specs and estimates.
• Serve as technical lead from concept to detailed engineering.
• Assign tasks and coordinate workload among engineers and designers.
• Perform QA/QC reviews to ensure quality.
• Coordinate with project manager and client; track design activities.
• Ensure designs comply with client and industry standards.
