Job summary

The Substation Design Engineer at E2 Consulting Engineers, LP will deliver P&C and physical design deliverables for a major Southern California electric utility project, including one-line diagrams, control drawings, panel elevations, cable schedules, and BOMs. Field notes and QA/QC are also involved.

Requirements include a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and 5–8 years in substation design, experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation, and strong written and verbal communication.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering is required.
• 5–8 years of substation design experience with a utility or consulting firm.
• Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
• Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Design substation P&C and/or physical deliverables, including notes and drawings.
• QA/QC review of designs submitted by junior engineers.
• Prepare CAD drawings with accuracy and minimal errors.
• Perform AC/DC load, conduit/bus sizing, lighting and grounding analyses.
• Ensure designs meet client and industry standards.
• Coordinate with project manager, client, and others; track activities in the system.
• Attend job-site meetings to gather scope; provide field support if needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
