Job summary

E2 Consulting Engineers, LP in Pasadena, CA is seeking a Lead Substation Engineer to head a design team for Protection & Control projects for a major Southern California utility. You will produce and review essential diagrams, wiring, cable schedules and BOMs, coordinating with the Substation Engineering Manager.

The role requires 10+ years in substation design, a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, and strong leadership, QA/QC, and software skills (AutoCAD/Bluebeam/MicroStation).

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• 10+ years in substation design or similar with utility/consulting.
• Experience managing multiple projects in fast-paced environment.
• Strong knowledge of substation systems (up to 500 kV) and protection & control.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead substation P&C design team, prepare field notes, drawings, specs, estimates, staffing plan and schedules.
• Serve as technical lead for P&C projects from concept to detailed engineering.
• Assign tasks and coordinate workload across engineers and designers.
• Perform QA/QC reviews to ensure quality deliverables.
• Coordinate project activities with project manager, client, and others.
• Ensure designs conform to client/industry standards.
• Attend job-site meetings and provide field support as needed.
