Job summary

E2 Consulting Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Senior Substation Engineer to design and coordinate substation protection, control, and physical design deliverables for a major Southern California utility client.

You will lead technical efforts, perform calculations, QA/QC, and collaborate with project managers and clients to ensure compliant, high-quality deliverables. This role requires extensive substation experience and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• 10+ years in substation design or similar with utility/consulting firm.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.

Responsibilities

• Lead substation P&C and/or physical design; prepare notes, drawings, specs, and estimates.
• Perform QA/QC reviews of work submitted by junior engineers.
• Create CAD drawings with accuracy and minimal errors.
• Perform electrical calculations for sizing auxiliary systems, conduit/bus, lighting, and grounding.
• Coordinate with project manager, client, and team; track design activities.
• Attend site meetings and provide field support when needed.
