E2 Consulting Engineers, LP in Pasadena, CA, seeks a Substation Engineering Manager to lead a multidisciplinary design team on large utility projects. You will oversee design deliverables, budgets, schedules, and staffing, ensuring technical accuracy and client satisfaction.

The role requires 10+ years in substation engineering with at least 3 years in a management capacity, strong leadership, and proficiency with AutoCAD or MicroStation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
• 10+ years in substation engineering and design, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Strong knowledge of substation systems 4kV to 500 kV, protection and control, grounding, and physical design.
• Experience managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Experience performing quality reviews of substation engineering drawing packages.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar design tools.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the substation engineering design team, including electrical P&C and Physical design engineers.
• Monitor project schedules and budgets, ensuring department performance goals are met.
• Manage resource allocation, staffing, recruiting, and performance evaluations.
• Conduct design reviews, implement corrective actions of engineering documents including design drawings and bills of materials.
• Provide technical guidance to engineering design team for substation projects.
• Coordinate with project management, clients, utilities, sub-contractors, and construction teams to align project goals and ensure technical accuracy.
• Support business development efforts by contributing to proposals, scope development, and client presentations.
• Promote a strong safety culture and adherence to industry codes (e.g., IEEE, NESC, NEC).
• Perform other duties as assigned.
