Job summary

HDR Engineering is seeking a Substation Project Manager to lead substation engineering projects across the lifecycle, from scope through closeout, in the Power Delivery practice. You will mentor engineers and technicians and manage cross-office teams to deliver quality outcomes.

The role requires strong project management, communication, and leadership skills, with a PE license preferred. This position is based in Irvine, CA and emphasizes our employee-owned culture and client-focused delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• 7 years related experience.
• At least 2 years of project management experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent.
• MS Office and MS Project experience required; Access experience a plus.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Active participation in employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

• Manage substation engineering projects from scope to closeout.
• Lead project teams including engineers, EITs, coordinators and designers.
• Oversee schedule, budget, quality, and resource utilization.
• Engage with public agencies on permitting and right-of-way issues.
• Support marketing and proposal development for new opportunities.
• Coordinate with multiple offices to execute projects.
