Job summary

HDR is actively seeking a Senior Substation Project Engineer to lead multidisciplinary design teams in developing substation projects across the Power sector. The role focuses on technical leadership, client relations, and ensuring code compliance.

You will mentor staff, coordinate with design engineers, and participate in project reviews and planning sessions at client sites and HDR offices. A PE license and 10+ years of power-sector experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in power market sector project execution.
• Proficiency in Power Sector design software (PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, Revit).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the work of design engineers with the balance of a multidiscipline team throughout the entire project's development.
• Establish client relations and participate in marketing, design, and production meetings.
• Assume technical lead within a project execution team.
• Participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance.
• Conduct schematic, design development and contract document work sessions at the project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines.
• Coordinate workload throughout the project to complete project deliverables on schedule.
• Work with Project Manager and Project Controller on project reviews with management as needed.
• Direct the activities of other engineering professionals and mentor staff.
• Perform other duties as needed.
