Job summary

HDR is seeking a Substation Engineering Manager/Team Lead to join a growing Power Delivery team. You will lead the technical team, manage project execution plans, and coordinate quality control to deliver reliable, high‑quality substations.

Ideal candidates have a bachelor‑level electrical engineering degree, 10+ years of experience, and PE licensure or equivalent registration. Travel may be required as you oversee multiple projects and mentor staff in a collaborative, employee‑owned environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Ten years of experience in technical design, preferably in high‑voltage switchyard and substation projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a partnership with a Project Manager, leading the technical team and execution of project deliverables.
• Develop and implement a project execution plan for the technical aspects of projects.
• Assign project tasks and provide technical guidance to team members.
• Support scope, schedule, budget, including proposal development and risk assessment/mitigation.
• Mentor, train, and supervise Project Engineers, EITs, or CADD/Designers.
• Coordinate quality checks per HDR QMS and ensure world‑class quality.
• Lead multiple projects concurrently across locations.
• Work with senior engineers to develop technical expertise and attend training.
• Assist with developing technical papers/presentations for conferences.
• Participate in project reviews as needed.
