Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer | Regional Technical Leader to provide both technical and organizational leadership within our growing Power and Energy practice.

The role combines advanced P&C expertise with responsibility for leading, developing, and growing a team of engineers, mentoring staff, supporting business growth, and delivering reliable, resilient power infrastructure for our clients.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or related discipline.
Professional engineering (PE) license.
15 years of related experience.
Domestic travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on duties and project demands.

Responsibilities

Lead the design, delivery, and technical execution of high-voltage substation protection and control projects.
Serve as a technical authority for protective relaying, control systems, SCADA, automation, and substation communications.
Develop, review, and approve protection and control engineering deliverables, including schematics, wiring diagrams, relay settings, and panel layouts.
Lead power system studies, protection coordination, equipment selection, and related engineering analyses.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to support project delivery, commissioning, testing, and startup activities.
