Job summary
CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer | Regional Technical Leader to provide technical and organizational leadership within our Power and Energy practice. You will lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers while serving as the technical authority for protection and control systems on high‑voltage projects.
The role requires extensive experience in protective relaying, automation, SCADA, and power system operations, with a track record of successful project
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license.
- 15 years of related experience.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required; travel frequency varies by project.
Responsibilities
- Lead design, delivery, and technical execution of high-voltage substation protection and control projects.
- Serve as technical authority for protective relaying, control systems, SCADA integration, automation, and comms.
- Develop, review, and approve protection and control deliverables (schematics, wiring diagrams, relay settings, layouts).
- Lead power system studies, protection coordination, equipment selection, and related analyses.
- Ensure compliance with client requirements, standards, and CDM Smith quality procedures.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to support delivery, commissioning, testing, startup.
