Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer to provide technical and organizational leadership within our Power and Energy practice. You will lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers while delivering protection and control solutions for complex substations.

The role demands expertise in protective relaying, SCADA integration, and power system operations, with travel to regional sites and client engagements. Hybrid work options available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional engineer (PE) license required.
• 15 years of related experience; travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, delivery and technical execution of high-voltage substation protection and control projects.
• Serve as technical authority for protective relaying, control systems, SCADA, automation, and communications.
• Develop, review and approve protection/ control deliverables (schematics, wiring diagrams, relay settings, layouts).
• Lead power system studies, protection coordination and equipment selection.
• Ensure compliance with client requirements, standards and CDM Smith procedures.
• Mentor engineers, manage team performance and resource planning.
• Support business development, proposals and client relationship management.
