Job summary

WSP is seeking a Substation Senior Electrical Engineer to lead station physical engineering for multi-site projects in Ft. Mill, South Carolina. You will develop electrical designs, perform calculations, and coordinate with clients, owners, and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities include creating one-line diagrams, yard layouts, and grounding plans while ensuring QA/QC and regulatory compliance. This role requires independence, mentoring of juniors, and willingness to travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5 to 7 years of post-education experience as an electrical engineer providing design deliverables for large capital projects.
• Proficient knowledge of substation Physical engineering principles for 12 kV to 345 kV substations.
• Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and construction including rehabilitation and new design projects.
• Knowledge of relevant engineering and electrical construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
• Ability to perform technical computations and reinterpret plans and specs according to regulations.
• Project management experience with small to mid-level substation projects including tracking hours and expenses.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance for due diligence, design, development, and construction support of substations up to 345 kV.
• Develop one-line diagrams, station layouts, sections/elevations, and grounding/lighting plans.
• Prepare plans, specs, and cost estimates; coordinate with owners and clients.
• Lead, mentor, and train junior engineers; ensure QA/QC adherence.
• Review third-party design documents and procurement lists for compliance.
