Job summary

WSP is seeking a Substation Senior Electrical Engineer (Station Physical) in Fort Mill, SC. You will lead design, analyses, and documentation for 12 kV–345 kV substations and collaborate with a cross-discipline team to deliver complex projects.

You will mentor junior engineers, develop one-line diagrams and yard layouts, and ensure adherence to IEEE/NESC/NERC standards while coordinating with owners and clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5 to 7 years of post-education electrical design experience on large capital projects.
• Knowledge of substation physical engineering for 12 kV to 345 kV.
• Experience with infrastructure planning, rehab and new design projects.
• Ability to manage projects, schedules, budgets, QA/QC.
• Strong communication and leadership to guide junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Develop plans, specifications, and cost estimates for substations.
• Create electrical calculations, one-line diagrams, and switchyard layouts.
• Prepare data visualizations and reports.
• Review third-party design documents and procurement lists.
• Train and guide entry-level engineers.
• Ensure compliance with IEEE/NESC/NERC standards.
• Collaborate with owners, disciplines, and clients.
• Support multiple concurrent projects.
