Job summary

Serco Inc. is seeking a Principal Naval Architect to lead the naval architecture team on the VIRGINIA Class Submarine program, coordinating with PMS450 and NAVSEA. The role requires DoW Secret clearance and deep expertise in hull design, stability, weight, and propulsion.

You will guide design decisions, engage with shipyards, and ensure regulatory compliance across lifecycle stages. The position emphasizes program management, technical leadership, and collaboration with government stakeholders

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture or related field.
• Experience leading naval architecture teams and delivering ship design in DoD programs.
• Strong analytical skills in hull design, stability, weight, and performance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize submarines, focusing on stability, weight, and performance.
• Modify and upgrade submarine designs to meet new requirements.
• Oversee construction, maintenance, and inspections to ensure safety and performance.
• Collaborate with PMS450, NAVSEA, shipyards, and stakeholders.
• Provide technical guidance on weight, hydrostatics, and system integration.
• Develop design documents, calculations, and performance predictions.
