Serco Inc. is seeking a Principal Naval Architect to support the NAVSEA 05P3 – Virginia Class Submarine program, based in the Washington, DC area.

The role requires DoW Secret clearance and leadership of the Naval Architecture - System Integration Team (SIT) within PMS450, coordinating with two naval shipyards and Electric Boat to deliver advanced submarine designs. Responsibilities include design optimization, weight and hydrostatics analysis, ballast control, and oversight of technical

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level engineering degree preferred.
• 8+ years of professional experience in marine/naval architecture or related field.
• Strong leadership and project management capabilities.
• Experience with naval shipbuilding programs and Navy standards.

Responsabilités

• Design, develop, and optimize submarines, including hull form, stability, weight, and performance analyses.
• Oversee construction and maintenance, conducting inspections and tests for safety and performance.
• Coordinate with PMS450, NAVSEA, shipyards, and vendors to ensure design compliance and timely delivery.
• Review weight reports, hydrostatics, tank capacities, and inclination data; support ballast decisions.
• Prepare technical documentation and responses to inquiries from stakeholders.
• Deliver formal presentations of engineering issues to PMS450 Program Manager and senior officials.
• Lead cross-discipline teams, manage schedules and budgets, and mentor junior staff.
• Ensure compliance with Navy specifications and DoW security requirements.
