Job summary

Serco Inc. is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer in Washington, DC, to support the Virginia Class Submarine Program (PMS450) and Team Submarine. You will coordinate SIT activities, manage requirements alignment, lead technical meetings, and ensure documentation quality to meet milestones.

The role requires an active DoD Secret clearance, U.S. citizenship, and extensive experience in naval systems engineering, with a strong emphasis on communication and cross‑functional collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Active DoD Secret clearance is required.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (engineering, physics, etc).
  • High School Diploma/GED with 4 years of additional experience or Associate’s with 2 years of experience in lieu of bachelor’s.
  • 15 years of experience.
  • Excellent communications and analytical skills; able to meet with program officials and influence actions to meet milestones.
  • Experience briefing senior leaders.
  • Proficient with MS Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.
  • Navy/Submarine program experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support NEWCON development and certification activities for Virginia Class Submarines within PMS450.
  • Lead System Integration Team (SIT) coordination and guidance across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Manage requirements alignment and ensure consistency across program documentation.
  • Coordinate and support test and evaluation planning and execution.
  • Review engineering deliverables for alignment with requirements and standards.
  • Provide systems engineering analysis in coordination with program leadership and the Technical Director.
  • Facilitate stakeholder communications to align system requirements and objectives.
  • Interface with PMS450 and related stakeholders for technical inquiries.
  • Participate in technical meetings and briefings to resolve issues.
  • Track and resolve assigned tasks and ensure proper routing of documentation.
