Job summary

Alpine, an ITW Company, is seeking a Senior Engineer to apply structural engineering expertise to wood truss design and related framing systems. You will develop complex solutions, guide customers and colleagues, and contribute to Alpine's proprietary design software.

You will partner with customers to solve technical challenges, review designs for codes and standards, and lead the engineering team while supporting field and product needs.

Qualifications

• Relevant structural engineering experience, including a minimum of 3 years with a Professional Engineering (PE) License or minimum of 10 years without a PE and the ability to obtain licensure with company support.
• Experience with truss design and drafting techniques, including plating methods and/or light-gauge steel connection methods, engineering notes, design manuals, and span tables.
• Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles, applicable building codes and design standards, particularly statics and strength of materials.
• Ability to read and interpret roof and framing layouts and develop structurally sound, practical, and cost-effective truss configurations.
• Strong communication, documentation, customer-service, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Develop complex structural solutions by designing and analyzing wood trusses, framing systems, repairs, and components using engineering principles and Alpine's software.
• Partner with customers to solve technical challenges, including evaluating framing layouts, calculating special loads, supporting plan takeoffs, troubleshooting structural concerns, and identifying safe, practical, and cost-effective design solutions.
• Review and validate engineering designs for technical accuracy, completeness, applicable design standards, building codes, specifications, and engineering principles.
• Provide technical leadership to the engineering team by reviewing the work of engineers and designers, answering complex design questions, supporting training and development, and helping ensure consistent design quality.
• Support field and product-related engineering needs, including occasional job site inspections and investigations to evaluate structural performance, repair requests, or other design-related concerns.
• Partner with Alpine's software development team by providing engineering expertise, technical input, and recommendations that enhance Alpine's engineering and design software.
