Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a structural engineer for a hybrid role focused on power transmission facilities. You will apply knowledge of materials behavior, structural analysis, steel design, and concrete design to a range of substation projects, collaborating with clients and project teams.

The successful candidate will hold an ABET‑accredited BSCE/MSCE, have 7+ years of relevant experience, and excel in communication and documentation.

Qualifications

• We require a BSCE or MSCE from an ABET-accredited program with strong structural design background.
• Minimum 7+ years as a practicing structural engineer on substation design and upgrades.
• Excellent client communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, trouble-shoot, and solve diverse structural engineering issues.
• Perform structural analysis and detailed design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment, and foundations.
• Develop integrated structural designs and supporting calculations for planned work.
• Interface with the client and convey technical information clearly.
• Prepare technical specifications for structural materials.
• Review others' work, including calculations and drawings.
• Coordinate with engineers, PMs, clients, and suppliers to ensure timely design.
• Review existing facilities to propose upgrades and present findings.
• Contribute to career development through Communities of Practice.
• Travel to client/vendor sites for design reviews and field verification.
