Job summary

Sargent & Lundy, based in Phoenix, AZ, seeks a structural engineer with 3+ years of substations experience to design and upgrade power transmission facilities. You will perform steel and concrete design, develop calculations, drawings and specs, and interface with clients.

Hybrid work arrangement includes 3 days in-office and 2 remote days. Strong knowledge of structural analysis, codes (IBC, AISC, ASCE 7) and design tools is required; PE is valued but not required.

Qualifications

• Requires a BSCE or MSCE from an ABET-accredited program with strong materials behavior, structural analysis, steel and concrete design.
• Three+ years of experience as a practicing structural engineer, preferably in substations.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients and attend scoping meetings.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and detailed design of steel frames, concrete members, equipment, and foundations.
• Develop integrated structural designs and supporting calculations for planned work.
• Coordinate with clients, PMs, and suppliers to ensure timely design and reviews.
• Prepare technical specifications for structural materials and provide design reviews.
