Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in the United States is seeking a senior structural engineer to join an engineering and design team working on power transmission modifications and upgrades, including calculations, design documents and specifications.

The role emphasizes client-facing communication, travel to client and vendor sites, and collaboration with other engineers and project managers. A BSCE/MSCE and 7+ years in substations are preferred; a relocation package is available for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• This position requires a BSCE or MSCE from an ABET-accredited program with strong knowledge of materials behavior, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design.
• 7+ years of structural engineering experience, preferably on electrical substations.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients and prepare calculations and design documents with clear detail.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and detailed design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment, and foundations.
• Develop integrated structural designs and supporting calculations for the planned work.
• Coordinate with clients, project managers, and suppliers to ensure a complete and timely design.
• Review existing facilities to propose upgrades and present findings to clients and peers.
• Travel to client and vendor sites for design reviews and field verification.
