Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in Seattle is seeking an experienced engineer to lead structural design for spaceflight systems. You will own the full design cycle, perform sizing and FEA, and develop CAD definitions for Stage 1 Mid Module components with cross-functional teams.

You will collaborate with materials, processes, and manufacturing teams, release engineering drawings, and support testing objectives while travelling to suppliers and facilities as needed.

Qualifications

• BS degrees or higher in mechanical, structural, or related engineering field.
• Strong fundamentals in mechanics of materials, stress/strain, statics, and sizing of structures.
• Experience with large primary or secondary structures and metallic manufacturing techniques.
• Familiarity with tolerance, GD&T and design for manufacturability.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD and product data management tools (Windchill/TeamCenter).
• Hands-on production floor or in-service hardware experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering scope to close including planning, design, structural analysis, release, procurement and test.
• Own the entire design cycle of structure components from concept to fabrication and qualification.
• Develop, release, and maintain CAD/drawing packages; support procurement and testing objectives.
• Collaborate across multi-functional teams and travel 0–20% to suppliers/manufacturing.
