Job summary

Blue Origin seeks an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to ensure spacecraft structural integrity from concept through qualification. You will perform FEA, hand calculations, and analytical modeling to support design decisions under launch and in-orbit conditions.

The role requires collaboration with design teams, mentoring of engineers, and delivering robust structural solutions while balancing mass and stiffness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related discipline.
• 7+ years in structural analysis for space/aerospace or high-performance industries.
• Expert proficiency with FEA software such as ANSYS/NASTRAN/Abaqus.
• Experience with hand calculations for stress analysis.
• Strong fundamentals in solid mechanics, dynamics, and materials.

Responsibilities

• Own and execute structural analysis for spacecraft components from concept to design and verification.
• Perform detailed FEA to model stress, strain, deformation and modal response.
• Develop analytical models to anchor and validate FEA results.
• Analyze hardware for static, dynamic and thermo-elastic loads.
• Support structural test plans and correlate models with test data.
• Collaborate with design engineers to optimize mass and stiffness.
• Mentor other engineers in structural analysis.
