Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced engineer to design and deliver structural components for spaceflight systems, focusing on Stage 1 Mid Module. You will lead the engineering scope, own the full design cycle, and ensure CAD and drawing packages are released and maintained.

Occasional travel to suppliers/manufacturing is required. You will apply mechanics, FEA, and manufacturing know-how to deliver robust designs, work across multi-disciplinary teams, and support testing and qualification

Qualifications

• B.S. degree or higher in mechanical, structural, or other relevant engineering field.
• 8+ years in professional engineering experience.
• Strong fundamentals in mechanics of materials, stress/strain, statics, structures sizing and finite element analysis.
• Experience with large primary or secondary structures.
• Experience with material selection and manufacturing techniques (sheet metal, machining).
• Familiarity with tolerance, GD&T and design for manufacturability.
• Strong mechanical design and integration skills using 3D CAD software.
• Strong PDM skills (e.g. Windchill, TeamCenter).
• Hands on hardware on production floor or in service.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering scope to close including planning, design, structural analysis, engineering release, procurement, and test.
• Own the entire design cycle of structure components from concept to release.
• Develop, release, and maintain CAD and drawing engineering definition package.
• Support procurement activities to meet vehicle build schedules.
• Assist integrated test objectives, data review and reporting.
• Perform or facilitate emergent analysis for non-conformances.
• Participate in subsystem level testing with planning and data analysis.
• Collaborate with design, analysis, materials, processes, structures, fluids, systems, procurement, and manufacturing teams.
