Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead the structural analysis of spacecraft components, from concept through qualification. You will perform FEA, hand calculations, and correlate results with test data to guarantee performance under launch and in-orbit conditions.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with design teams to optimize mass and stiffness, and drive structural integrity across complex assemblies in a high-performance aerospace environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 7+ years of professional experience in structural analysis in space/aerospace or equivalent high-performance industry.
• Expert proficiency with FEA software (ANSYS, NASTRAN, Abaqus).
• Experience performing classical hand calculations for stress analysis.
• Strong fundamentals in solid mechanics, dynamics, and material science.
• Experience analyzing hardware for launch and in-space environments (random vibration, shock, thermal cycles).

Responsibilities

• Own and execute the structural analysis for critical spacecraft components from concept to verification.
• Perform detailed FEA to model stress, strain, deformation, and modal response.
• Conduct hand calculations and develop analytical models to validate FEA results.
• Analyze hardware for static, dynamic, and thermo-elastic loads.
• Support structural test plans and physical testing (static, vibration, shock).
• Correlate analysis with test data to improve predictive accuracy.
• Collaborate with design engineers to optimize mass and stiffness and ensure performance.
• Mentor and guide other engineers in structural analysis.
