Job summary

Jacobs in California seeks an accomplished California-licensed Structural Engineer (SE) known for seismic engineering excellence, advanced structural analysis, and facility resiliency in vertical buildings. The role leads complex projects, serves as Engineer of Record, mentors leaders, and grows Jacobs’ structural practice in CA and the Western US.

This hybrid position requires regular office attendance and travel throughout California for client meetings, pursuits, and project activities.

Qualifications

CA PE license required or clearly active
Master of Science in Structural Engineering or Civil Eng with structural emphasis
10+ years of structural engineering experience on vertical buildings
Experience as Engineer of Record and technical lead
Strong knowledge of CBC/IBC/ASCE7/AISC/ACI and California seismic requirements
Experience with performance-based seismic design and nonlinear analysis
Proficiency with ETABS, SAP2000, PERFORM-3D, RAM, SAFE or similar
Strong leadership, client engagement, and communication skills

Responsibilities

Lead structural analysis, design, evaluation, and rehabilitation of complex building projects.
Act as Engineer of Record for major building projects through planning, design, construction, and project delivery.
Prepare and review calculations, specifications, reports, and construction documents.
Mentor engineers and designers while promoting technical excellence.
Collaborate with architects, owners, and multidisciplinary teams.
Support client development, pursuits, proposals, and technical presentations.
Serve as a technical leader for seismic engineering, performance-based design, and resiliency initiatives.
Perform advanced linear and nonlinear analysis using industry-leading tools.
Lead ASCE 41 seismic evaluations and retrofit designs.
