Job summary

Jacobs seeks a California-licensed Structural Engineer (SE) to lead complex seismic projects and serve as Engineer of Record across California and the Western U.S. The role blends technical leadership with mentorship, collaboration, and business development responsibilities.

You will supervise analysis, design, and retrofit work, while advancing seismic performance, safety, and resiliency in vertical buildings within a hybrid office environment.

Qualifications

• California Structural Engineer (SE) license required.
• California Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• MS in Structural or Civil Engineering with structural emphasis.
• 10+ years of vertical-building structural experience.
• Experience as Engineer of Record and technical lead.
• Expertise in CBC/IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and California seismic requirements.
• Experience with performance-based seismic design and nonlinear analysis.
• Proficient with ETABS, SAP2000, PERFORM-3D, RAM, SAFE.
• Strong leadership, client engagement and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural analysis, design, evaluation, and rehab of complex buildings.
• Act as Engineer of Record for major projects through delivery.
• Prepare and review calculations, specs, reports, and docs.
• Mentor engineers and designers, promoting technical excellence.
• Collaborate with architects, owners, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Support client development, pursuits, and technical presentations.
• Lead seismic evaluations, performance-based designs, and retrofits.
• Perform advanced linear and nonlinear analyses with industry tools.
