Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead the design and analysis of nuclear and commercial facilities. This remote-capable role interfaces with mechanical, nuclear, operations and electrical teams to deliver safe, innovative structures that meet regulatory and client requirements.

You will perform advanced calculations (FEA), develop foundation details, steelwork and containment design, and prepare design documents.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required in Civil Engineering or related technical or engineering field.
Minimum of 7 years relevant experience to include recent nuclear design project structural engineering experience.
Experience in nuclear industry preferred.
PE preferred.
Master’s degree preferred.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and oversee construction and maintenance of infrastructure projects.
Oversee design and analysis of safety and non-safety related structures for nuclear and commercial projects.
Interface with other disciplines for structural design and layouts.
Perform advanced engineering calculations using traditional methods or Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
Generate and review civil layout plans, foundation details, steelwork details and architectural feature design.
Prepare and approve design documents and plant modifications; coordinate with designers.
Provide guidance to junior colleagues; ensure schedules, accuracy and timeliness.
