Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer for a fully remote role aligned with the Oak Ridge, TN office. The candidate will lead complex nuclear and commercial infrastructure projects, performing advanced structural analyses and ensuring compliance with international standards.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of nuclear design experience, a Civil Engineering degree, and at least a PE license or master’s degree.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 7 years nuclear design project structural engineering experience.
• Experience in nuclear industry preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• Master's degree preferred in a related field.
• Familiarity with ASME/ACI/ASCE/AISC codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and oversee infrastructure construction and maintenance.
• Lead design and analysis of safety and non-safety structures for nuclear and commercial projects.
• Interface with mechanical, nuclear, operations and electrical teams for structural design.
• Apply codes, standards, and best practices to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Perform advanced engineering calculations and FE analyses to document conformance.
• Generate and review civil layouts, foundation details, steelwork, and architectural features.
• Prepare and approve design documents and plant modifications.
• Guide junior colleagues and perform design media checks for accuracy.
