Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior Project Engineer-Remote to support our Oak Ridge, TN office. You will lead system-level design, coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities, and maintain progress and interfaces across projects in the commercial nuclear sector.

Reports to the Engineering Manager and leads delegated technical authority, mentoring junior staff and ensuring timely, high-quality deliverables across disciplines. US citizenship and 10CFR Part 810 eligibility required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial or related Engineering Field.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience (Project Engineer/Project Controls).
• Experience in nuclear industry.
• Exposure to multidisciplinary engineering projects (industrial, infrastructure, or energy preferred).
• Basic understanding of engineering project workflows.
• Familiarity with project documentation and deliverables tracking.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and matrix environment.
• Strong organizational and coordination skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to track multiple deliverables.
• Good communication and follow-up capability.

Responsibilities

• Leading system-level design work within delegated authority.
• Integrating contributions from Systems Engineers and discipline engineers.
• Maintaining technical progress and reporting schedule status.
• Identifying and managing cross-system interfaces and alignment with cost/schedule expectations.
• Ensuring consistency of design basis documents, criteria, and architecture.
• Coordinating engineering activities across disciplines.
• Following up on deliverables to ensure alignment with project schedule.
• Tracking progress and highlighting delays or missing inputs.
• Mentoring and quality reviews of junior colleagues.
• Ensuring accuracy of design media per company policies and client expectations.
