Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a senior structural engineer to lead design and analysis for nuclear facility projects. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, guide junior staff, and ensure high-quality deliverables across steel, concrete, and foundation systems.

The role involves hands-on design work, calculations review, and occasional travel for design reviews and field verification. The position follows a hybrid schedule in Elkridge, MD.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Seven+ years of experience on a project team in design and analysis of structures.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software (STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS).
• Proficiency with design codes and standards (ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI).
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a team of structural engineers and interface with other disciplines.
• Guide the work of less experienced project team members.
• Prepare and review design calculations and develop specifications.
• Perform structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, and foundations.
• Travel to client/vendor offices or plant sites for reviews and field verification.
