Job summary

Black & Veatch in Austin, TX is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to support Hydropower and Hydraulic Structures design projects. You will function as a senior engineer leading complex analyses, drawings, and assessments.

This role involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, supervising engineers and technicians, and occasional client-site visits up to 20% travel. Hybrid schedule and ESOP ownership are part of the opportunity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Science from an ABET-accredited Structural or Civil Engineering program.
• Professional registration in at least one state with the ability to obtain additional licenses.
• Minimum 11 years of related structural design experience including steel structures and reinforced concrete.
• Experience with hydropower projects and Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) is beneficial.
• Demonstrated leadership and mentoring for cross-regional teams.

Responsibilities

• Execute complex structural analysis and prepare drawings for Hydropower and Hydraulic Structures.
• Perform site inspections and develop remediation recommendations for aging infrastructure.
• Lead and supervise engineers and technicians; manage large production teams.
• Travel to client sites up to 20% to support project development and collaboration.
• Ensure QA/QC and alignment with BV standards, budgets, and schedules; provide technical guidance.
