Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a staff-level Structural Engineer to support Hydropower and Hydraulic Structures design projects. You will perform complex structural analysis, supervise teams, and collaborate across disciplines while engaging travel up to 20% to client sites.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in structural or civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program and professional licensure in at least one state with potential for growth within a 100% ESOP-owned, employee-driven

Qualifications

Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Science from an ABET-accredited Structural or Civil Engineering program.
Professional registration in at least one state with the ability to obtain additional licenses.

Responsibilities

Execute complex structural analysis, perform calculations, and prepare sketches and drawings for Hydropower and Hydraulic Structures (powerhouses, dams, spillways, penstocks).
Perform site inspections and develop remediation recommendations for aging infrastructure.
Support dam safety evaluations, risk analysis, and structural stability assessments under FERC Part 12d.
Collaborate with process and systems engineers on multi-disciplinary design projects.
Supervise Structural Engineers and Technicians in drawing packages, calculations, and specs (US and overseas).
Travel to client sites up to 20% as needed.
Support project administration: design fee estimates, budget/schedule tracking, changes, and QC requirements.
Provide guidance on design standards, engineering codes, and department practices.
