Job summary

Burns & McDonnell seeks a Senior Structural Engineer to lead design teams across power, process, healthcare and industrial projects. You will guide from concept through construction, ensure code compliance, and manage budgets and staffing while mentoring junior staff.

Required are a structural engineering degree with EPC experience or FE/PE credentials, strong CAD/Office skills, and the ability to travel. The role emphasizes client relationships and technical leadership across multiple locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program with 7 years EPC experience.
• Or ABET-accredited degree with FE exam and 7 years EPC experience.
• Or Master's degree in Structural Engineering with 6 years EPC experience.
• Strong knowledge of IBC, AISC, ACI, ASCE7 and computer tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel and lead the discipline design for large projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural design of projects from concept through design completion.
• Prepare equipment specifications, RFQs, technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations.
• Review vendor drawings and interface with suppliers, clients and other disciplines.
• Manage scope, schedule, budget and staffing; control change orders.
• Provide leadership and mentor engineers; ensure QA/QC adherence.
• Conduct field inspections, calculations and testing of materials.
• Build client relationships and pursue new business opportunities.
• Develop cost proposals, qualification statements and project budgets.
