Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Chicago, IL is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead design teams on a range of mission-critical facilities, including data centers. You will guide projects from concept through construction, ensuring code compliance, budgeting, and scheduling.

The role requires ABET- accredited degree with 7+ years of structural engineering experience (EPC preferred) and strong communication, leadership, and CAD/QC skills. PE license is preferred and travel is up to 25%.

Qualifications

Bachelor Degree in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program with 7+ years of structural engineering experience (EPC preferred).
Bachelor Degree in Structural or related Engineering Technology with FE and 7+ years EPC experience (ABET accredited).
Master Degree in Structural Engineering with 6+ years EPC experience (preferred).
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
Strong knowledge of IBC, AISC, ACI, ASCE7 and CAD tools.
Willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

Lead structural design from conceptual phase to design completion.
Prepare equipment specifications, RFQs, data sheets, and bid summaries.
Review vendor drawings and interface with suppliers and other disciplines.
Develop project schedules, scope, budgets, staffing, and construction planning; manage changes.
QA/QC reviews of drawings and related documents; coordinate with field personnel.
Lead budget proposals and cost estimates; present to clients.
Mentor and guide less experienced engineers; ensure QA/QC adherence.
Build client relationships and identify new business opportunities.
