Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Winston-Salem, NC is seeking a Senior Engineer in Structural Engineering to analyze data, develop finite element models, and support design substantiation for seating components.

Responsibilities include creating substantiation reports, enabling certifiable test procedures, and advising design engineers. Requires advanced FEAC experience and knowledge of FAA processes within aerospace interiors.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering with 10+ years of progressive structural experience, or Master’s with 7+ years.
• Experience translating problems into FEM models and interpreting results.
• Experience reducing testing and certification costs via FEA.
• Experience with VATD Humanetics dynamic models a plus.
• Proficiency with CAE tools such as Hypermesh, LS-DYNA, Hyperview/LS-PREPOST.

Responsibilities

• Analyze structural data to ensure FAA and manufacturer acceptance.
• Develop FEMs for design and certification data.
• Create substantiation reports for seating component changes.
• Provide feedback to design engineers on substantiation issues.
• Develop and implement test procedures to obtain certifiable data.
• Support production during manufacturing and installation phases.
• Develop expertise in aircraft seats design concepts and standards.
