Job summary

Collins Aerospace, a leader in aerospace interiors, is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer for an onsite role in Winston-Salem, NC. You will show compliance of interior components to federal and industry standards and support interior modifications for aircraft.

The role requires collaboration with regulatory bodies and multiple internal teams, with up to 10% travel. Strong background in structural analysis and aerospace certification is expected.

Qualifications

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with 5+ years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree with 3+ years.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship now or in the future.
• Experience with FAA/ODA and other regulatory bodies on 14 CFR part 21 and part 25 certification projects (PMA, STC).
• Experience performing static stress analysis using classical methods and finite element analysis.
• Experience with load paths, free body diagrams, load balance, structural sizing, and common aerospace failure modes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Perform complex structural analyses, including static and dynamic analysis of aerospace components.
• Define, assess, and document repair designs for metallic and composite structures.
• Coordinate with regulatory authorities to develop repair instructions.
• Prepare engineering reports for repairs and FAA approval.
• Collaborate with Operations, Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering to identify cost reductions.
• Develop and implement tools and workflows to increase engineering efficiency.
