Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Winston-Salem, NC, seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer for our seating group. You will conduct product development, create layouts and 3D CAD models, and support analysis, testing, and certification activities in a onsite environment.

The role emphasizes reading drawings, applying aerospace design standards, and collaborating across teams to optimize components, reduce errors, and meet weight targets. Onsite work with opportunities to grow in the aerospace seating field.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
  • Must be a U.S. Person - access to ITAR or EAR information/hardware.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Mechanical design experience using 3D CAD is required.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in product development activities including engineering studies, feasibility studies, cost estimates, specification implementation, drawings, and development of performance or maintenance requirements.
  • Follow design, safety, and qualification standards in development programs.
  • Work toward commonality and optimization of product and components to reduce design errors and escapes.
  • Develop data, layouts, sketches, and notes to present design proposals.
  • Design detail parts and assemblies for complex programs with weight and manufacturability considerations.
  • Resolve design problems to ensure project completion.
  • Analyze test results and provide improvements.
