Job summary

Hanson Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Structural Bridge Engineer in Chicago to lead and contribute to bridge projects across highway and railway sectors.

You will perform advanced structural analyses, design elements, and prepare construction documents, while guiding junior staff and coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams. The role requires a PE license, 5+ years of relevant experience, and familiarity with IDOT/ tollway practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with structural coursework.
• Minimum 5 years of experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration is required.
• SE registration or ability to obtain is required; SE preferred.
• Experience with DOT bridge design practices and standards is desired.

Responsibilities

• Lead or assist in leading bridge projects within Hanson's Infrastructure Market.
• Perform complex engineering calculations and use software tools for analysis and design.
• Collaborate with senior staff and multidisciplinary teams on national projects.
• Conduct structural analysis and design, prepare specifications and construction plans.
• Assign duties, manage project budgets, and mentor staff and technicians.
• Prepare and review calculations, quantity take-offs, and cost estimates.
• Support project pursuits and proposal development; assist with scopes and fee proposals.
